On the 13th of October, the Beta Launch team indulged in a well-deserved R&R session on the sun-kissed shores of Matara. The day kicked off at 7:00 am, with the team (some fashionably late) assembling at the office premises and boarding the bus. The journey began at a leisurely pace, allowing everyone to gear up for a day and night brimming with enjoyable activities.
After a short journey, we reached our destination, the exquisite Amaloh Boutique Resort. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation and enthusiasm as we explored the resort and settled into our rooms. Soon, it was time for a perennial favorite among the teams: Cricket.
The game commenced on a friendly note, but as the score gap narrowed, so did the intensity of the competition. Ultimately, the victorious team secured triumph by the narrowest of margins! Post-game, the crew plunged into the inviting pool for a refreshing session of water sports. This was succeeded by a delectable lunch and a few hours of unwinding before the night's festivities commenced.
The night's festivities were brimming with singing, dancing, and smooth conversation, providing an opportunity for our new members to forge stronger friendships and connections with those they don't typically work alongside. It was a night filled with camaraderie and shared moments of joy.
The subsequent morning unfolded with more laid-back moments. Following a delightful Sri Lankan-style breakfast, everyone took one final dip in the pool to bask in the sun and enjoy some aquatic recreation. After lunch, the bus was loaded up for the return journey to Colombo. The trip back was infused with liveliness, featuring non-stop singing and dancing from Matara to Colombo.
In retrospect, the Beta Launch team's retreat to Matara wasn't just a getaway; it was a rejuvenating experience that strengthened bonds and created lasting memories.
